Week 8 term 1 2017

Wow, we have been busy this week!!

We have an amazing student teacher from AUT who will be part of Habitat 2 for the next 4 weeks - her name is Miss Pond.

We have been learning all about punctuation, word endings, and reading with expression during our shared reading lessons.

We have been running lots of maths workshops based around the students needs. Students have also been running their own maths workshops to assist other students.

We have been learning about challenge and how important it is to challenge ourselves. We have talked about learning pits and the language we can use to get ourselves out of the pit.

We have been learning how to reflect on our learning and think about our next learning steps - we have been working on our next learning steps before school and during explore time.

Today we have Mandarin lessons with Lily - we love learning a different language :) Today we learnt the Mandarin names for sun (tai yang), cloud (yun), mountains (shan) and trees (shu).

The teachers have been very busy re-testing all the students on their reading :) ask your child how their reading test went :) a lot of students have moved up reading levels so will be taking different readers home at night. The new readers might be challenging to start with - BUT... Challenge is good!!

We have been talking about how we can learn from our mistakes...mistakes are good!!

Tomorrow we are having a day full of challenge activities..look out for photos on our challenges :)
